I have been wanting to start a Blog for some time now. One of my friends just started one, so I decided that I would use the same service that she did.
I have had a lot of people ask me for advice about infertility issues. This is a very complicated topic, but I thought that I would try my best to describe what all I have done in the past, and I hope that this helps someone out there that has the dream of starting a family but have some of the issues that I do.
Lets start from the beginning; David and I got married in September 1999. We wanted to wait to start a family until after I completed college, and we wanted to spend at least 5 years together before the babies started coming. I wanted everything to be perfect..... I wanted to do all the research, have my dream job, dream house and perfect life before I brought any kids into it. I wanted to be the perfect mother (even though I know there is no such thing as a PERFECT mother).
We traveled, went on adventures, moved across the country together. We had the greatest first 5 years ever! I wanted children very early in our marriage, but I worked as a nanny for several years, and the 3 children that I watched everyday kinda became the family that I wanted. When we moved to Montana and I left the nanny job, there was a void, all of the sudden Iwanted a child of my own.
Then, after 5 years went by...... we both were not on the same page about having children. I wasn't working in my dream job, and David loved his job but wasn't making enough money to support a family (and neither was I). I started wanting a child REALLY badly, but soon after, my sister and newborn nephew moved in with us..... so I got to help take care of him. For the next couple of years, the baby sounds of my nephew drowned out the sounds of my biological clock. I had the greatest years with him! Again, like before when I was a nanny, I had a child to take care of. We went on walks, camping, shopping, playing at the park. He went everywhere with me, I almost felt like I was his mother (even though he had a mother who loved him very much). He was so special to me! Then, after almost 3 years of taking care of him..... my sister wanted to move back to Sheridan. I remember my heart sank...... It was almost like someone was taking my child away from me. I was sad, depressed and most of all..... I was going to miss being with him everyday.
Then all of the sudden it happened.... my baby clock that had been silent for all of the time I was taking care of my nephew, and before that... my nanny kids, the biological clock started THUMPING not ticking.
David and I, after talking about it for awhile (October 2006), decided that even though I wasn't happy at my job and he wasn't making a lot of money, we would start trying to start a family.
I hadn't been on birth control consistantly since we got married. I started taking an estrogen form of birth control right after we got married and it made me crazy. I felt like I was hot and itchy all of the time and my mood swings were terrible. I got migrane headaches and my face was always broken out. I stopped taking the estrogen birthcontrol in about 2000 and tried the Depo Provera shots. That was the worst thing I could have ever tried! I had my period for almost 6 months! I remember I would just lay and cry for it to be over with, unfortuneltly; once you get the shot you have to wait for it to naturally take its course and get out of your system.
I stopped taking birth control after the Depo Provera experience that I had. We went without using any type of birth control for several years and I never got pregnant. I just figured that it was because we were lucky and must have missed the crutial times in my cycle (which we were happy with because we were not trying to get pregnant at that time).
I got back on birth control sometime in 2005 because my doctor in Bozeman wanted to start gettting my cycles regulated since they were so unpredictable.
